Im entering my quilt into the Baby Quilt category.

An unexpected gift of comfort for an unimaginable loss...
The story of how a gift of my love and admiration became a great source of comfort and strength;

I made this baby quilt for a dear friend of mine whose miracle baby girl was nearing her due date. Throughout her pregnancy, every milestone seemed like a huge hurtle. Once each milestone was prayerfully met, on to the next with more prayers and caution. As the pregnancy neared 38 weeks, relief and gratitude filled their home and hearts. For at any time, this sweet baby girl could come and all would be healthy and well.

It was the 38th week when I delivered my quilt. As I handed the quilt to my friend's husband, he shared with me devastating news. News he had only been give a couple of hours prior. There was no heart beat. Their sweet miracle baby was now an angel.

Not knowing the significance and comfort a quilt could bring to someone.

A few months after my friend's loss, she shared with me how appreciative she was of the quilt.

She told me, when she's having a hard day she will lay on her bed with the quilt. And when she gets up, she folds it up nice and puts it back  in her baby's crib. She expressed how much comfort the quilt brings to her.

Up until this  moment, I didn't fully realize the significance and comfort a quilt could bring to someone. This reaffirmed to me, how much a quilt is a gift of love. How blessed I feel to have been able to offer a gift that would bring much needed comfort and healing.

Pattern; Thimble Blossom's 'Dilly Dally' (half the pattern size)

Fabric; Moda's Marmalade by Bonnie and Camille, backing is a soft yellow minky.

Pieced and Quilted by me.

I entered this quilt into the 'Two Color Quilts' group. 

Purple and Teal

Purple is a difficult color to find at the quilt shops! 

Luckily I was able to find a few. 

I made this quilt for my brand new niece back in September 2012. 

I wanted to do a timeless and classic pattern with colors to match the nursery. 

I did an all over loopy loo stipple, and a soft minky gingham pattern on the back. 

And here is the cute label I put on the back. 

I printed it on my computer using white fabric and freezer paper.

Bloggers Quilt Festival May 2012

I love the Quilt Festival, and look forward to it every time.  

I am sharing a 

Double Hour Glass Quilt; 

tutorial from cluck cluck sew.

A family friends 15yr old. daughter (who I also worked with in a church youth group) 

wanted to make a quilt. (and some encouragement from me).

I thought about doing something small, especially if its a first quilt. 

But, we decided that we wanted the quilt to big enough to make a comfortable lap quilt, and big enough for a twin bed (for when she leaves for college, she can take it with her.) 

We went to our LQS and picked out fabrics. There are lots of different fabric lines in this quilt. 

And the variety of fabrics makes the perfect scrappy quilt. 

It took us a few quilting sessions to finish the top. 

The top got done, then the borders, and I quilted and binded it.   

The backing is a beautiful patterned white minky. 

This was the girls first time really sewing anything. 

And she did most of the sewing.

I learned that it was REALLY okay, if the points all didnt match up, 

or if there were burn marks from the iron on the white fabric, 

and puckers where the seams got messed up...

These small flaws add character to the quilt (right), and unless its in a quilt show, 

no one will ever notice the small flaws, and the overall quilt it beautiful, which takes your focus. 

I am happy that I had the opportunity to share a talent I have with someone who was interested. 

And it makes me even more happy knowing how much she loves this quilt. 

Now, I've got to make a version for me, because I love it that much. 

Bloggers Quilt Festival a Scrappy Christmas

I love the Bloggers Quilt Festival! Such a fun thing that Amy does. (Thank You!) 

I have participated each time (except this spring when life got really busy). 

I always like to share a newly finished quilt. This time the festival was all the motivation I needed to get this quilt finished. I joined a christmas block swap back in the summer of 2009. I put all the swap blocks together with a few extra of mine a year ago. And I quilted and did the binding the last two nights, just in the nick of time to join the festival. phew! So this quilt was 3 years in the making. And its HUGE; 70 X 95. 

Some of you might even recognize your Christmas blocks. (if you exchanged with me).  Thanks! I love this quilt. And so does my husband who prefers quilts that can cover his shoulders and toes. 

I got my inspiration of how to quilt this quilt when one of my friends "pinned" this quilt. 

Diagonal lines mixed with some horizontal lines. 

Perfect for a log cabin quilt. 

This quilted up pretty fast, with all those lines. 

I backed the quilt with a Christmas minky fabric, so it will be extra warm for those Cold December days. 

And I binded with some Mary Engelbreit Christmas fabric from a few years ago.

Bloggers Quilt Festival

I love to participate in the Bloggers Quilt Festival. Such a cool idea, and great opportunity to share, and to be inspired by others. This time around, I am going to pick one of my favorite quilts, for the story behind the quilt. (seems like all the quilts I make, become a favorite)

Right before I was going to get married, my mom and I visited the lqs. We were looking for fabrics to make me a quilt; a wedding quilt/present. We had help from the store manager picking out coordinating fabrics. This was before I knew anything about quilting. I was marrying someone who was in the service, so I thought it would be kinda fun to have a star/patriotic quilt. Before a wedding, is a busy busy time. This start quilt never got made. Fast forward 4 years later. I now know some things about quilting, and had made a few quilts. I was at my moms for the summer, and I found the stash of fabric that we bought for this quilt. I enlisted her help to finish the star quilt. It was going to be really big, so we decided to pick out a few more colors, and make two quilts. One for her, and one for me. We got the tops all made. I finished her quilt just in time for a quilt contest, over at piece n quilt, and I finished my quilt about a year later. On my quilt, I tried to do a smaller stippling then usual for me. And I did a fun zigzag around the blue border, to coordinate with the star points. This quilt is a big one. It quilted up pretty fast for me. And I love it.

Bloggers Quilt Festival

Thanks Amy once again for hosting the Bloggers Quilt Festival.

(such a fun idea, and a great place for inspiration)

I am thrilled to be apart of it.

I have participated in the past Quilt Festivals,

 but this time I hadnt finished a quilt that I loved since the last festival.

(just enough motivation to finish an "in process project")

So I got to work....

I pieced the top of this quilt last summer. And it has been waiting since then to be quilted.

This is the first time I had ever pieced hexagons (lots of seams).

The pattern is Wee Spin by American Jane.

It definitely isnt perfect, but I love it any way.

I love this quilt because I love the American Jane Fabrics.

This quilt took a lot of time...

The pattern probably has been the most time intensive that I have done.

Simple, but lots of work.

Fall Quilt Festival

We (bloggers) are sooo lucky to be able to

I joined the first quilt festival last spring.

I shared my first quilt I made,

which was my favorite one (at the time).

Since then I have made a few more quilts...
Here is my favorite right now.

Fabric; Pumpkins Gone Wild

Pattern; Thimble Blossoms; Wild Thing.

I love the brightness that this fabric has.

I love the fall/autumn colors.
I love how this quilt reminds me of dancing leaves.
I have this quilt on the top of my bed right now,
and I am loooving it!

My Favorite Quilt- Quilt Festival

I would never imagined ever being apart of a quilt festival,
but Amy over at Park City Girl made it possible.
(Thanks!) She is hosting a Bloggers Quilt Festival.

wow, What a Journey... I am REALLY new to quilting, I always wanted to make some quilts, but the timing was never right. I just had my first baby this fall, and now I have a little bit more time on my hands. I think I started about a month ago...I learn soo much with every stitch. Not too long ago, I found all the quilters in blog land. And immediately there were tons of quilts that I wanted to make. I knew I had to start out with something simple, and build my way up to more complexd patterns. I got my inspiration from this pattern from Kelly Mccaleb. I instantly feel in love with the vintage look of her quilts. I wanted to make one just like it. Off I was to the local Joanne's, to find some vintage looking fabric. (thats the only place I really knew of to buy fabric at the time, didnt even think I could buy fabric online!) The experience of matching fabrics together took about 2.5 hours!! Way to long for me. (the end result was worth it though.) It seemed like Joannes only had flower prints or fig leaf prints. Nothing that seemed really boyish to me. So I went with a "babyish" theme, and found my fabrics in the baby section.
Remember I wanted to make a 'vintage' looking quilt. Well, plans changed.

The sewing process came together really easy. Once I was done, I debated weather to sew X's, or send it out to get machine quilted. Neither one of them really worked out. I searched online for a few weeks, trying to get the courage to machine quilt it myself. I purchased a free motion foot, so I could machine quilt it, and with all the different tutorials out there, I took the plunge. Thanks to these two amazing tutorials, they were my ready references. There are a lot of them out there, so far these two are some of my favorites. And here are the results;

This is my favorite quilt this far, because It is my first quilt (working on my second), I love the simplicity, I love the colors, and chenille squares. I think each quilt I make will become my new favorite. It is so exciting and fun to find so many other quilters out there in blog land. There is so much inspiration! Thanks.

I was sooo excited to finish this next quilt, and had to share it as well, because I think it became my new favorite. (can that even be possible?) the pattern is from Moda Bake Shop. I doubled the "recipe", to make it bigger. And I loove it. I hope you do too.

Just need to bind it.
