Happy Halloween!

Guest Post by Erica:
This year I had lots of fun making a witch costume, I bought the hat and dress from Joanns, and made a purple and black tulle skirt to make the dress fuller and added pompoms and ribbon to the hat.

At our house today...

The before pictures of the next project at Erica's house:
I didn't get a pic of the stairs with the (cheapest) carpet on them, but they were in pretty bad condition, and very dirty.
This is exciting, lovely particle board risers and tread...... wish us luck!

Tu Tu Cute

Im visiting some family, and one of my sil wanted a tu tu for her little girl. We did a quick search for tu tu tutorials, and figured out a quick and easy way to make a tu tu. Each tutorial offers a little bit different information. Then we took the information that would work for us, and went to work. Oh how I love blogland, and all the talents and information people share! thanks. Instead of elastic, we used ribbon, and looped it through the ribbon. we used about a yard of tulle for this little tu tu.
..... and look how precious it is!
soooo adorable.
we loved how quick and easy the process was,
so we are making some more.... stay tuned.

As for my painting project, I need to rent scaffolding to reach the top of the entry way. I did get the upstairs hallway painted, the small wall in the entry, and a wall in the hallway. and now I have three super tall entry walls, and one more loooong wall and two bathrooms to go!
One of my favorite stores ever, Rod Works had a spring open house over the weekend where you could pick your own door buster for 50% off, I got this iron piece to go above the piano, (love it)
and this iron piece to go in my aqua room downstairs
and I just finished making this pillow today:

25 March 2009

I covered up my fuse box in the basement, I used magnets and decorative tin tiles. I painted the brown tiles classic brown (Benjamin Moore) and rubbed some black glaze over the grooves to make them pop. the silver tiles are just the way they came, and the green flower is also a magnet.
I am loving the difference this makes in my basement with the gray fuse box hidden. (and yes I know the wall is still white. any paint color suggestions?)

23 March 2009

I have always wanted to make modge-podge clipboards. And this weekend I did, I made twelve of them for sign-up sheets at church. They were a big hit!

Headboard

I need a twin headboard.
my solution:
this is a king size headboard I found a few years ago at a thrift store for 7 dollars.
I got out the jig-saw and cut down the middle, then the battery died, when its re-charged I will even out the cut. and then re-finish
I am very excited for this project. As soon as I am finished I will post the pictures!
