Welcome, if your stopping by for the first time from the Bloggers Quilt Festival.
This quilt is making its first debut on my blog.
The fabric is a variety of 30s prints from a few years ago.
Here is the timeline breakdown;
I purchased, and cut the fabric into 6" squares back in 2009.
I sewed the squares into hourglass blocks the Spring of 2012.
I sewed the rows and columns, basted, quilted and binded this Spring 2013.
What a WIP!
The block is your basic hourglass block.
Im entering this quilt under the "
Home Machine Quilted Quilts" category.
I quilted this on my Juki TL98 Q
I think the quilting brings the quilt to life, and matches the fabric.
(does that make sense?)
I love how the curves make the hourlgass block pop.
I love how simple and easy this quilting pattern is.
I also love the overall delicate flower pattern that appears on the back.
Here's a upclose picture of the quilting
I continued the pattern onto the white sashing and border.
Here's a picture of the overall flower pattern that is easier to see on the back of the quilt.
Simply beautiful.
Here are some more up close pictures of the quilting.
Quilt measures 76 X 90
(soo wish I had hers. Its perfect in everyway!)
and my quilting inspiration came from 'thegirlwhoquilts' ;
tutorial here.
I fell in love with her "orange peel" quilting look, and had to try it. (so glad I did!)
